The signs you can’t ignore:

So they are always late and now you smell a new perfume or cologne on them? Hmmmmm…..
They get in the shower before you have an opportunity to catch their smell? Hmmmmmm….
They always come up with an alibi for the reason why they are late. Hmmmm….
They always have a response as to why they are spending lots of time with a co-worker. Hmmm…..
They beg for reasons to go to the grocery store. You call them but – no answer. Hmmmm….
Their text message inbox and outbox is always zero. Hmmmm……
They always delete their incoming and outgoing call logs. Hmmm……
Their sex drive is non-existent or full of excuses not to participate. Hmmmm….
They don’t want to go with you when you go out of town on business or family matters. Hmmmm….
You find sparckle makeup on their face and neck. They hugged someone? Hmmmm…..
They won’t show you the cell phone bill? Hmmmm…..
They can’t explain “missing time frames” or who they were with? Hmmm….

When you were growing up, did you ever watch shows like survivor island? At first you realized that it was just a TV show with actors who were placed on an island and were all trying to “out-do” each other. However, within a short a mount of time, you were fully immersed in the show as if mesmerized by its processes and how there was betrayal, lies, denial, fakeness, arguments, distrust, misconceptions, exaggerations, love, hate, and unexpected events. Within a short amount of time, these actors realized that they had to form alliances in order to survive in this island. One person was vulnerable, but if they formed an alliance with another member, they became a bit stronger. Or Not! There were times that forming an alliance with enemy proved fatal. As a TV viewer you watched from your side of the couch going through some very real emotions. You would watch friends betray each other, alliances being made among enemies who would later betray each other, and the abnormal or unaccepted oftentimes became accepted. Well….. in life the same things happen and these can oftentimes be called conspiracies. People in high positions of power and influence oftentimes play games with people who are significantly lower in status than they are. The judge on the bench who makes over $17,000 a month will never understand how a poor person coming before him/her is feeling. Many of you watched the “Survivor” show and now watch various political scandals and often ask yourselves: “How can this be happening?” Stop. You need to begin accepting that these deals are happening all around you – each and every day. A corrupt detective will push for a conviction even though he knows that the client could be innocent. A win on a case will boost his standing in the department and prep him for another promotion. A biased judge will push for a conviction on a high profile case because she/he knows that this could boost their promotion to higher levels in their organization. A police officer in traffic court is willing to lie so that the commissioner will find the driver guilty of the traffic offense. These individuals: Judge, police detective, and police officers are oftentimes called into meetings and explained how important it is to find a person guilty. When this takes place, you have what is called a conspiracy. Conspiracies are very real. The sooner you accept that they exist, the sooner you will be able to counteract their practices and effects.

Before you become a casualty of a conspiracy, why not talk to the experts at SpyMyHeart Investigations? During your free consultation you can discuss your case in detail and see what our investigators can do for you. Will they video and photograph someone to help your case? Yes. Will they follow a person to see what unethical behavior they are up to? Most definitely!

SpyMyheart Investigators have their clients’ best interests in mind. Before you waste your time with ineffective private investigators, talk to those that can help turn your case around. It’s time to begin winning for a change!

Many families with teenage daughters will report that at one time or another they were concerned with someone that their daughter was dating or considering dating. Arguments often take place between the parent and these daughters about whether or not the boy they like is worthy of spending time with them or not. Arguments are lost oftentimes because of lack of information. Yes – Information is power. So, take the Smith family who was concerned about their daughter dating a boy whom she met at the Starbucks drive-thru. Sixteen year old Elouise was so happy to have met this older boy who was funny, outgoing and cute. There were the times he couldn’t tell her where he lived or what school he was attending, or what his friends thought of Elouise as a person. Elouise would text him but there would be hours before the text would receive a response. The response was most always short and oftentimes confusing. Either way, Elouise was impressed by the attention from this boy whom she knew basically nothing about. Her mother: Mrs. Smith became concerned and called SpyMyHert Investigations. A license plate check revealed that the car the boy was driving actually belonged to a friend of his. In fact, the boy did not have a valid driver’s license. The boy was actually living in a half-way house because he was on probation for auto-theft. His lengthy criminal history did not stop there. The boy’s criminal career began at age 14 when he burglarized his neighbor’s home and vandalized some of their personal property during the burglary. Lastly, the boy had gotten a girl pregnant five months before meeting Elouise at the drive-thru. The boy was in fact involved in a serious dating relationship with the girl who was now pregnant and this was possibly the reason why he would take a long time to reply to Elouise’s text messages. A meeting was scheduled with a family counselor who spoke with Elouise about the information found by SpyMyHeart Investigations. Both of Elouise’s parents felt that she would have a much better conversation with a family counselor before the subsequent meeting to discuss the boy.
At SpyMyHeart we believe that prevention is key! Why not find out about people before they do irreparable damage to a member of your family? As a parent, your job is to protect your children from all of the influences that exist in today’s world. Yes, you can’t be there each and every time, but why not be there during the times that matter most to you and your family?
Our investigators have access to the same information that law enforcement has. Many of our investigators are retired or former police officers who are results-driven!
If you have a problem with a teenager that requires some investigation, give us a call for a free consultation! (855) 910-4779. Peace of mind served daily!

We can all agree that a relationship is a huge investment. This investment becomes even more valuable as the years pass us by. Whether you are married or in a serious relationship, you at times wonder if the person you are with could be cheating. Are they cheating? Could they be cheating? Or, is it about a co-worker who may be trying to interfere with your relationship? Can you ignore this? The simple answer is no! Being part of a serious relationship means that you have certain guard duties. Yes, guard duties! The guard is always on duty. What duty you ask? Well, the duty to guard against outside influences that may damage your relationship. While many people do not see it, others outside of their relationship may have a warped sense of what a relationship would be like with your mate. Ok, so some people call this “a small crush.” This could be ignored when you were seven or ten, or even fifteen years old. BUT – as an adult, it simply cannot be ignored. Many of our clients find that sometimes co-workers become more than friends. Family friends sometimes become lovers and even those people whom you never would have suspected – can in fact persuade and eventually take your mate away.
Remember that prevention is key! Yes – prevent the matter before you have to deal with it! At SpyMyHeart our motto is: “Confirm or deny your suspicions.” Have you asked more than once if your mate could be cheating on you? Who can you call to check on this? You can call SpyMyHeart Investigations. What if you want to do a background check on your mate before you agree to marry them? We offer extensive information on anyone within a short amount of time. How many cars do they own? Have they been married before? Could they be cheating on me? These are all common clients that we get from our clients.
SpyMyHeart is a full-service private investigations agency who uses advanced technology to track, and monitor people in various stages of their lives. Whether it’s an infidelity matter or a civil, criminal or family law case, our results-driven investigators will be on your side when you need us to. We are accessible 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. We specialize in cover surveillances and provide high quality digital photos and video. Results are handled in the most discreet and confidential matter. Call us for a free consultation today: (855) 910-4779 or contact us via our website: http://www.spymyheart.com

When you look at the late Steve Jobs who was the CEO at Apple, you may wonder why he was as successful as he was. While going through his early adult years, he had a number of innovative ideas on how to create the perfect computer. He wanted a computer that any American family could afford. Everywhere he turned walls were placed in front of him. These walls, oftentimes called obstalces were ignored by Jobs. Rather than be a reactive entrepreneur, Jobs was always proactive. He sought to find solutions rather than have those come to him. The majority of the time, Jobs worked on new ways to improve his vision and eventually – company. By being proactive, Jobs was able to bring a tremendous amount of success to Apple and its stockholders.

As we examine Jobs’ proactive demeanor, we ask ourselves: “Why is it important to lead a proactive life rather than a proactive one?” The fact is that reactive people live their lives in stand-still, often awaiting for others to make opportunities happen for them. On the other hand, proactive people are visionary and look for opportunities at every bend. Proactive people set their own course and sail there while others are still contemplating on where to find a boat.

When it comes to your case, all private investigators at SpyMyHeart are proactive. These investigators know how important it is for you to win your case and do everything in their power to protect your rights. Their investigators have your best interests in mind when they search for information in your case.

Why is it important to have proactive private investigators? The simple answer is a quote by the late U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt: “While some hesitate because they feel inferior, others advance because they feel superior.” Investigators at SpyMyHeart quickly assimilate an effective plan to investigate your case and are very results-driven. By being proactive, they help their clients in each and every step of the investigation.

When you’re ready to hire the right investigator, give SpyMyHeart Investigations a try. http://www.spymyheart.com

We all have done it. Starting this year I will ______. Or, starting this year I will not ______. Months later, we find that we are creatures of habit and that many of these new years’ resolutions are wish lists that are oftentimes abandoned three to four months into the new year. So, what can you do to make sure that you actually follow through on these new resolutions? Well, begin with writing them down. Prioritize which resolutions you will keep and which ones are beyond reach. Remember that timing is everything. You shouldn’t create a resolution that you will climb Mt. Everest mountain if you’re experiencing medical or physical issues. Instead, start with an attainable goal. You might say: “Starting Monday I will ten minutes out of my busy day to go for a short walk. I will do this at least three days a week.” Once you have attained that small goal, you may want to increase your walk time to fifteen or even twenty minutes. Remember that the key is to set real and attainable goals and then harness the feeling that you get once you actually follow through with those goals. If the goal is to lose weight, ask yourself: “What can I cut out of my current diet that will make me a healthier person?” You may start by still eating most of the foods but in small quantities. If the goal is to get a new job, you will need to allocate a set time and number of minutes or hours to begin searching for a new job. Always start low: 30 minutes a day to search job listings on Monday, 30 minutes a day to work on my resume(s) on Tuesday and then 30 minutes on Wednesday to apply for some of these jobs.
By setting and accomplishing these goals, you will experience freedom and empowerment. Remember that you are the captain of your own ship. You and only you decide how you will take care of your ship and what direction you will take when the ship begins to endure though storms. Life is not about enduring pain, but looking at ways to minimize and tolerate the remaining pains or difficulties. Do something everyday that, although it may be considered selfish, it benefits you!

Introduction to How Facial Recognition Systems Work

Anyone who has seen the TV show “Las Vegas” has seen facial recognition software in action. In any given episode, the security department at the fictional Montecito Hotel and Casino uses its video surveillance system to pull an image of a card counter, thief or blacklisted individual. It then runs that image through the database to find a match and identify the person. By the end of the hour, all bad guys are escorted from the casino or thrown in jail. But what looks so easy on TV doesn’t always translate as well in the real world.

In 2001, the Tampa Police Department installed police cameras equipped with facial recognition technology in their Ybor City nightlife district in an attempt to cut down on crime in the area. The system failed to do the job, and it was scrapped in 2003 due to ineffectiveness. People in the area were seen wearing masks and making obscene gestures, prohibiting the cameras from getting a clear enough shot to identify anyone.

Boston’s Logan Airport also ran two separate tests of facial recognition systems at its security checkpoints using volunteers. Over a three month period, the results were disappointing. According to the Electronic Privacy Information Center, the system only had a 61.4 percent accuracy rate, leading airport officials to pursue other security options.

Humans have always had the innate ability to recognize and distinguish between faces, yet computers only recently have shown the same ability. In the mid 1960s, scientists began work on using the computer to recognize human faces. Since then, facial recognition software has come a long way.

In this article, we will look at the history of facial recognition systems, the changes that are being made to enhance their capabilities and how governments and private companies use (or plan to use) them.

Facial Recognition Technology

Identix®, a company based in Minnesota, is one of many developers of facial recognition technology. Its software, FaceIt®, can pick someone’s face out of a crowd, extract the face from the rest of the scene and compare it to a database of stored images. In order for this software to work, it has to know how to differentiate between a basic face and the rest of the background. Facial recognition software is based on the ability to recognize a face and then measure the various features of the face.

Every face has numerous, distinguishable landmarks, the different peaks and valleys that make up facial features. FaceIt defines these landmarks as nodal points. Each human face has approximately 80 nodal points. Some of these measured by the software are:

Distance between the eyes

Width of the nose

Depth of the eye sockets

The shape of the cheekbones

The length of the jaw line

These nodal points are measured creating a numerical code, called a faceprint, representing the face in the database.

In the past, facial recognition software has relied on a 2D image to compare or identify another 2D image from the database. To be effective and accurate, the image captured needed to be of a face that was looking almost directly at the camera, with little variance of light or facial expression from the image in the database. This created quite a problem.

In most instances the images were not taken in a controlled environment. Even the smallest changes in light or orientation could reduce the effectiveness of the system, so they couldn’t be matched to any face in the database, leading to a high rate of failure. In the next section, we will look at ways to correct the problem.

3D Facial Recognition

A newly-emerging trend in facial recognition software uses a 3D model, which claims to provide more accuracy. Capturing a real-time 3D image of a person’s facial surface, 3D facial recognition uses distinctive features of the face — where rigid tissue and bone is most apparent, such as the curves of the eye socket, nose and chin — to identify the subject. These areas are all unique and don’t change over time.

Using depth and an axis of measurement that is not affected by lighting, 3D facial recognition can even be used in darkness and has the ability to recognize a subject at different view angles with the potential to recognize up to 90 degrees (a face in profile).

Using the 3D software, the system goes through a series of steps to verify the identity of an individual.

Detection

Acquiring an image can be accomplished by digitally scanning an existing photograph (2D) or by using a video image to acquire a live picture of a subject (3D).

Alignment

Once it detects a face, the system determines the head’s position, size and pose. As stated earlier, the subject has the potential to be recognized up to 90 degrees, while with 2D, the head must be turned at least 35 degrees toward the camera.

Measurement

The system then measures the curves of the face on a sub-millimeter (or microwave) scale and creates a template.

Representation

The system translates the template into a unique code. This coding gives each template a set of numbers to represent the features on a subject’s face.

Matching

If the image is 3D and the database contains 3D images, then matching will take place without any changes being made to the image. However, there is a challenge currently facing databases that are still in 2D images. 3D provides a live, moving variable subject being compared to a flat, stable image. New technology is addressing this challenge. When a 3D image is taken, different points (usually three) are identified. For example, the outside of the eye, the inside of the eye and the tip of the nose will be pulled out and measured. Once those measurements are in place, an algorithm (a step-by-step procedure) will be applied to the image to convert it to a 2D image. After conversion, the software will then compare the image with the 2D images in the database to find a potential match.

Verification or Identification

In verification, an image is matched to only one image in the database (1:1). For example, an image taken of a subject may be matched to an image in the Department of Motor Vehicles database to verify the subject is who he says he is. If identification is the goal, then the image is compared to all images in the database resulting in a score for each potential match (1:N). In this instance, you may take an image and compare it to a database of mug shots to identify who the subject is.

Next, we’ll look at how skin biometrics can help verify matches.

The surface texture analysis (STA) algorithm operates on the top percentage of results as determined by the local feature analysis. STA creates a skinprint and performs either a 1:1 or 1:N match depending on whether you’re looking for verification or identification.

Biometric Facial Recognition

The image may not always be verified or identified in facial recognition alone. Identix® has created a new product to help with precision. The development of FaceIt®Argus uses skin biometrics, the uniqueness of skin texture, to yield even more accurate results.

The process, called Surface Texture Analysis, works much the same way facial recognition does. A picture is taken of a patch of skin, called a skinprint. That patch is then broken up into smaller blocks. Using algorithms to turn the patch into a mathematical, measurable space, the system will then distinguish any lines, pores and the actual skin texture. It can identify differences between identical twins, which is not yet possible using facial recognition software alone. According to Identix, by combining facial recognition with surface texture analysis, accurate identification can increase by 20 to 25 percent.

FaceIt currently uses three different templates to confirm or identify the subject: vector, local feature analysis and surface texture analysis.

The vector template is very small and is used for rapid searching over the entire database primarily for one-to-many searching.

The local feature analysis (LFA) template performs a secondary search of ordered matches following the vector template.

The surface texture analysis (STA) is the largest of the three. It performs a final pass after the LFA template search, relying on the skin features in the image, which contains the most detailed information.

By combining all three templates, FaceIt® has an advantage over other systems. It is relatively insensitive to changes in expression, including blinking, frowning or smiling and has the ability to compensate for mustache or beard growth and the appearance of eyeglasses. The system is also uniform with respect to race and gender.

Poor lighting can make it more difficult for facial recognition software to verify or identify someone.

Photo © Identix Inc.

However, it is not a perfect system. There are some factors that could get in the way of recognition, including:

Significant glare on eyeglasses or wearing sunglasses

Long hair obscuring the central part of the face

Poor lighting that would cause the face to be over- or under-exposed

Lack of resolution (image was taken too far away)

Identix isn’t the only company with facial recognition systems available. While most work the same way FaceIt does, there are some variations. For example, a company called Animetrix, Inc. has a product called FACEngine ID® SetLight that can correct lighting conditions that cannot normally be used, reducing the risk of false matches. Sensible Vision, Inc. has a product that can secure a computer using facial recognition. The computer will only power on and stay accessible as long as the correct user is in front of the screen. Once the user moves out of the line of sight, the computer is automatically secured from other users.

Due to these strides in technology, facial and skin recognition systems are more widely used than just a few years ago. In the next section, we’ll look at where and how they are being used and what’s in store for the future.

Facial Recognition Systems Uses

In the past, the primary users of facial recognition software have been law enforcement agencies, who used the system to capture random faces in crowds. Some government agencies have also been using the systems for security and to eliminate voter fraud. The U.S. government has recently begun a program called US-VISIT (United States Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology), aimed at foreign travelers gaining entry to the United States. When a foreign traveler receives his visa, he will submit fingerprints and have his photograph taken. The fingerprints and photograph are checked against a database of known criminals and suspected terrorists. When the traveler arrives in the United States at the port of entry, those same fingerprints and photographs will be used to verify that the person who received the visa is the same person attempting to gain entry.

However, there are now many more situations where the software is becoming popular. As the systems become less expensive, making their use more widespread. They are now compatible with cameras and computers that are already in use by banks and airports. The TSA is currently working on and testing out its Registered Traveler program. The program will provide speedy security screening for passengers who volunteer information and complete a security threat assessment. At the airport there will be specific lines for the Registered Traveler to go through that will move more quickly, verifying the traveler by their facial features.

Other potential applications include ATM and check-cashing security. The software is able to quickly verify a customer’s face. After a customer consents, the ATM or check-cashing kiosk captures a digital image of him. The FaceIt software then generates a faceprint of the photograph to protect customers against identity theft and fraudulent transactions. By using the facial recognition software, there’s no need for a picture ID, bankcard or personal identification number (PIN) to verify a customer’s identity. This way businesses can prevent fraud from occurring.

While all the examples above work with the permission of the individual, not all systems are used with your knowledge. In the first section we mentioned that systems were used during the Super Bowl by the Tampa Police, and in Ybor City. These systems were taking pictures of all visitors without their knowledge or their permission. Opponents of the systems note that while they do provide security in some instances, it is not enough to override a sense of liberty and freedom. Many feel that privacy infringement is too great with the use of these systems, but their concerns don’t end there. They also point out the risk involved with identity theft. Even facial recognition corporations admit that the more use the technology gets, the higher the likelihood of identity theft or fraud.

As with many developing technologies, the incredible potential of facial recognition comes with some drawbacks, but manufacturers are striving to enhance the usability and accuracy of the systems.
